1. What Are Cookies and Browser Storage?

Cookies are small text files placed on your device by a website when you visit it. They are widely used to make websites work, to remember your preferences, and to provide information to the site operator.

Modern browsers also provide related storage mechanisms — localStorage and sessionStorage — which allow websites to store data locally on your device without using traditional cookies. These work similarly to cookies but are not transmitted to the server with every request.

This policy explains what cookies and browser storage AgriMarket NG actually uses, why we use them, and how you can control them.

2. What AgriMarket NG Uses

Based on a review of the AgriMarket NG source code, AgriMarket NG uses the following cookies, browser storage and third-party services:

2a. Strictly Necessary — Authentication Session Cookie

Type: HTTP cookie (server-set, HttpOnly)

Names: __Secure-better-auth.session_token and __Secure-better-auth.session_data

Purpose: Keeps you logged in to your AgriMarket account. Set by our authentication system (Better Auth) when you sign in. Without this cookie, you cannot access your account, place orders, manage listings, or use any authenticated feature. The second cookie holds a short-lived, signed copy of your session and account details so that pages can confirm you are signed in without looking it up each time.

First-party or third-party: First-party (set by agrimarketng.com)

Consent required: No — strictly necessary for the site to function.

Retention: The session cookie lasts up to 7 days and is renewed (at most once a day) while you keep using the site; the second cookie lasts 60 seconds and is renewed as needed. Both are deleted when you sign out.

2b. Functional / Preferences — localStorage

Cookie/analytics consent preference

Key: c2_analytics_consent

Purpose: Stores your response to the analytics consent banner (accepted or declined), so we do not ask you again on every visit. Expires after 365 days.

First-party or third-party: First-party

Consent required: No — this is the record of your own consent choice. It does not track you.

Last-used workspace

Key: agri:active:role:<account ID> (localStorage)

Purpose: Remembers which workspace (for example Buyer, Seller or Logistics) you last chose, so that workspace opens when you return. There is one entry for each account that has signed in on this browser, and its name contains that account's internal ID. It stays after you sign out, until you clear your browser storage.

First-party or third-party: First-party

Consent required: No — functional preference, no tracking.

2c. Analytics — Campaign (UTM) Values in Session Storage

Key: agrimarket_utm (sessionStorage)

Purpose: If you arrive at AgriMarket through a link containing campaign (UTM) parameters (for example from an email campaign or a social media post), and you have accepted analytics, those parameters are stored for your browser session and attached to the Google Analytics events described in section 2f, so we can see which channels bring visitors. They are used for nothing else. The data is cleared when you close your browser tab.

First-party or third-party: First-party

Consent required: Yes. Nothing is stored unless you accept analytics; until then the values are not written to your browser at all. If you decline, or later withdraw your choice, the stored values are removed.

Other First-Party Browser Storage

These items are written by AgriMarket NG itself, are kept in your browser, and are not used for advertising or to track you across websites. sessionStorage items are cleared when you close the browser tab.

Weather location — agrimarket:weather:stateId (localStorage): the Nigerian state you chose on the Weather page (its number only), so that state's weather is shown when you return. Set only when you choose a state.

Sign-in status between tabs — better-auth.message (localStorage): written by our sign-in system when you sign out, so that other open AgriMarket tabs notice. It holds the type of change, a random tab identifier and a time, and no account details.

Referral code — agri_ref_code (sessionStorage): if you open the registration page through a referral link, the code is kept until the referral is recorded or refused, or the tab is closed.

Order in progress while you sign in — agrimarket_pending_order (sessionStorage): if you start an order while signed out, the details you entered (including the delivery address and your phone and WhatsApp numbers) are kept while you sign in, then restored into the order form and deleted. Details older than 30 minutes, or for a different product, are discarded.

Closed announcements — agm_dismissed_announcements (sessionStorage): the numbers of the site announcements you closed.

Closed profile reminder (Sellers) — agm_profile_completeness_dismissed (sessionStorage): that you closed the profile-completeness reminder on the Seller listings page.

Scroll position — react-router-scroll-positions (sessionStorage): how far down each page you had scrolled, so the Back and Forward buttons return you to the same place.

Admin menu state (administrators only) — agrimarket.admin.navScroll, agrimarket.admin.navGroups and agrimarket.admin.navSubGroups (sessionStorage): the Admin menu's scroll position and open sections.

2d. Analytics — GoDaddy Insights (C2 / Signals)

Type: Third-party analytics script (loaded conditionally)

Provider: GoDaddy (Signals / C2 analytics platform)

Purpose: Records session starts, page views and clicks on links and buttons to help us understand how visitors use AgriMarket. Each event includes the page path and title and the address of the previous page; click events also include the text (up to 100 characters), identifier and link address of what you clicked, your screen-size category and your browser window's width. The address of the previous page is the full address, including anything after the “?”. Your name, email address and account ID are not sent. Data is used to improve the platform.

First-party or third-party: Third-party (GoDaddy)

Consent required: Yes. This script is only loaded after you accept the analytics consent banner. If you decline, it is not loaded.

Cookies/storage set by this service: The Signals script may set its own cookies or use browser storage. These are governed by GoDaddy's privacy practices.

2e. Live Support Chat — Tawk.to (ADA)

Type: Third-party live chat service

Provider: Tawk.to

Script source: embed.tawk.to

Purpose: Powers the "Ask ADA" support chat (and the "Live Chat" button on the Delivery page). Allows you to send messages to the AgriMarket support team in real time.

First-party or third-party: Third-party (Tawk.to)

When it loads: Only when you open the chat — by selecting “Ask ADA” or a “Live Chat” button. Until then nothing is loaded from Tawk.to and nothing about your visit is sent to it. Once you open the chat, Tawk.to stays loaded for that browser tab. If the chat cannot load, you are taken to our Help page instead.

What Tawk.to receives: once loaded, the messages you send in the chat and technical details of your visit (such as your IP address, browser and the page you are on). AgriMarket does not send Tawk.to your name, email address or account ID. Tawk.to may set its own cookies or browser storage for the chat session; these are governed by Tawk.to's Privacy Policy.

Consent required: It is not loaded without your action: opening the chat is your request for it. The analytics choice in the banner does not affect it. The native chat launcher button is hidden; only the custom ADA button is visible.

2f. Analytics — Google Analytics 4

Type: Third-party analytics script (loaded conditionally)

Provider: Google (Google Analytics 4)

Script source: www.googletagmanager.com

Purpose: Records page views (the page address without any query string, and the page title) and actions such as signing up, signing in, searching the marketplace, viewing a product, sharing, requesting quotes and creating an order, to help us understand how the platform is used. Admin pages are not recorded as page views. Google's advertising features are switched off: advertising storage and personalisation signals are always set to “denied”.

Consent required: Yes. This script is only loaded after you accept the analytics consent banner, and only where a Google Analytics measurement ID is configured for the live site. If you decline, it is not loaded.

Cookies/storage set by this service: Google Analytics may set its own cookies or use browser storage. These are governed by Google's Privacy Policy.

2g. Offline Support — Service Worker Cache

Type: Service worker and browser cache (Cache Storage), on the live site

Name: agrimarket-v2-1-static

Purpose: Lets AgriMarket be added to a phone's home screen and show an offline page when there is no connection. It keeps copies of public site files only: the site's code and styles, brand and category images, the offline page and the app manifest. It does not store the pages you view, your account information or any data from our servers about you. Old copies are deleted automatically when a new version is released.

2h. Fonts

The fonts AgriMarket uses (Inter and Plus Jakarta Sans) are served from agrimarketng.com itself. Your browser does not contact Google or any other font service to display our pages, and no cookie or storage is involved.

3. AgriMarket Advertising System

AgriMarket operates its own internal advertising platform that allows sellers and businesses to promote their products and services on the marketplace.

Impressions and clicks for these advertisements are recorded on AgriMarket's own servers; no third party receives them. Your browser sends a request to AgriMarket when at least half of an advertisement has been visible in the open tab for one second, or when you click it. For each counted event we record the advertisement, your device type (desktop, tablet or mobile), the address of the page it appeared on, a coded version of your IP address (a keyed hash that changes every 30 minutes for views and every hour for clicks) and, if you are signed in, your account ID. Your IP address is also used on our servers to limit repeated requests; that record expires within minutes and is not part of the advertising record.

AgriMarket does not set any cookie or browser storage for advertising, and uses no device identifiers. If you are signed in, your existing sign-in cookie (section 2a) is sent with these requests in the normal way. AgriMarket does not use cross-site tracking, retargeting pixels, or behavioural advertising technologies.

4. Paystack (Payment Processing)

When you pay through Paystack, you are redirected to Paystack's hosted checkout page at checkout.paystack.com. AgriMarket does not load any Paystack JavaScript on its own pages.

Paystack's checkout page is operated entirely by Paystack and is subject to Paystack's Privacy Policy. Paystack may set cookies or use browser storage on their own domain during the payment process. AgriMarket does not control and is not responsible for Paystack's use of cookies or data.

After payment, you are returned to AgriMarket. We receive a payment confirmation from Paystack's servers; we do not receive or store your card details.

5. Managing Your Preferences

Analytics consent

When you first visit AgriMarket, a consent banner asks whether you accept analytics (Google Analytics and GoDaddy, sections 2c, 2d and 2f). You can decline, and analytics will not be loaded and no campaign values are stored. Your choice does not affect the essential sign-in cookies or the first-party storage that makes site features work. The support chat (section 2e) is not part of this choice: it loads only when you open it. To change your choice at any time, use the button below: your saved choice is removed, the stored campaign values and the Google Analytics cookies on this site are deleted, the page reloads so that no analytics script stays running, and the banner asks you again. Cookies that GoDaddy's script may have set are governed by GoDaddy and can be removed in your browser settings.

Browser controls

All major browsers allow you to view, delete, and block cookies and clear localStorage. Refer to your browser's help documentation:

6. Changes to This Policy

We may update this Cookie Policy when we add new features or integrations that affect browser storage. The "Last updated" date at the top of this page will reflect any changes. We encourage you to review this page periodically.
